Christmas 2009

Christmas was really fun this year. Mostly because Kaub is so fun. He loves it all. He didn't understand the opening of presents. We couldn't get him to tear the paper. In one present was a truck and dad couldn't open it fast enough for him. He knows his trucks. We spent the weekend with Daven's family. Which was really fun. There are eleven little cousins running around for Kaub to play with. Lots of yelling and banging around. I only saw Kaub if he was hungry, thirsty or tired. He loves the kids. We hope that everyone had a great Christmas and may the Lord bless you.

We had family pictures with the Johnson family Thanksgiving weekend and these pictures are the boys goofing around. They were so handsome don't cha think!!

National Adoption Month

The month of November is National Adoption Month. Everyone needs to be more informed about adoption. I found these common thoughts posted on the Families Supporting Adoption link and thought I should do a little spreading of them myself. Be more informed!

Old Think vs. New Think

If I find myself unexpectedly pregnant, abortion and single parenting are my only choices.
There is a third choice, one that has proven to be a success for birth mothers and children–the adoption option.
I would never consider adoption–it would be too hard.
Which ever choice you make will present many hardships–adoption may be no more difficult than abortion or single parenting.
My friends and family will think I'm terrible giving up my own flesh and blood.
Adoption is not "giving up," it is giving to–a decision you have carefully made out of love for the future of your child and yourself.
I'll never know what happened to my baby. I simply couldn't live that way.
The old way of doing adoptions (secrecy and no control) is out. The new way–open adoption–allows you to make the decisions regarding the future of your child and yourself.
Why adoption? Isn't it just for people who can't have their own kids?
Not necessarily true. Yes, some people cannot biologically conceive, but adoption provides a family for a child, not a child for a family.
Kids who are adopted have lots of problems.
Not founded in fact. Refer to the Search Institute Study. Children who are adopted have, among other characteristics, high self-esteem and positive identity concerns at rates as high or higher than their peers.
What about me? I feel it's my responsibility to raise my child.
Your responsibility is to make the very best and informed decision that you can for your child. Studies show that birth mothers who make an adoption plan typically move on with their life, finish their education, have a career, and eventually marry.

It's Autumn Time!

Can you believe it's already fall that means cold weather and bundling up. For the Farr family it means cutting down trees for firewood.

Here's Kaub checking the tires on the trailor. We went to the woods in Show Low with the family. All of this wood went to New Mexico to share with Orrin and KiLeigh. I think there's enough!

It also means the leaves are falling. This is Kaub playing in the leaves with his cousin Tyson in Moab, UT. We went on a little trip for Daven's 33 birthday to Moab. Daven rode his bike on the trails with my brother and friends while the girls took the kids to the park and played.

And of course it means you have to wear jackets, hats, and gloves. Here's us at the shop just hanging out together as a family.

One year old

Our little sweetheart is one year old now. He had his official birthday on September 9th. And we can hardly believe it. He's had so many milestones already and this is another one. He has his two bottom teeth and almost the four top ones. He says "uh oh" a lot. He's had another haircut I think that makes it four times now. He hasn't taken more than just a couple of steps, but any day now he'll just take off. We feel blessed every day to have him in our lives. We were lucky too be able to meet up with his birthmother just the weekend before his birthday. That was pretty special. I can't wait for him to grow up and know her even more. I think we'll try and see her every time we go to the valley when we get the chance. Kaub was really cute that night he just smiled and smiled and I like to say that he performed perfectly. He did all of his tricks just for her. His birthmother smiled the whole time too. It was priceless. Moments that can't even be described. I'm glad we got together. Who doesn't need more love in their life? That's what adoption is, more love for everyone involved.

Beat the August heat go out on a Joyner!!

It's another adventure with the Joyner's. We love the part of the country we live in because we can just go out in our own backyard and take them for a ride. The hardest part is loading them up on the trailor and then cleaning them when we bring them back into the showroom. Kaub loves to ride. In fact, we had his car seat strapped down and that worked the best because he was safe and he fell asleep as soon as it got dark enough. Look at him and his daddy! When riding with the boys, Daven and Orrin, we have to have a photo op. Which consists of the boys parking the joyners up on a cool hill then taking tons of pictures at all angles. This comes in handy though sometimes. One of those photo ops ended up on the cover of the new Joyner catalog. Good advertising for our business. This is Kaub's first construction project. He was so happy. And then we just went to Utah and went to the most recent temple open house, in West Jordan. We had a lot of fun.

Moab extravaganza!!

As Farr Off Road business owners we went to play in Moab. Daven and Orrin entered into the Moab UTV Rally last week, which will happen every year. (And they plan on attending every year) It was so cool to see all of the different vehicles and the crazy stunts that they try. It was totally worth the opportunity to go and ride some great trails. And worth it to show off what our machines can do. On one of the days, they left the rally and came back to camp to take the rest of us. We had seats for the kids, and we strapped Kaub's car seat to the back and had a day of fun. Kaub mostly slept. I think the sound of the Joyner rocked him to sleep. This is a picture we took of all of us on top of one of the many beautiful hills. Moab is such a beautiful place. They have so many different things to do, bikes, off road vehicles, camping, boating, fishing, sight seeing, hiking, and just plane chilling. We had so much fun with the kids and playing in the sun. We definately plan to go again!!!

Here's our sweet boy. He's growing so big. I gave him a spoon covered in chocolate. Looks like he may end up loving it just like his mom. We've given him his second hair cut. He's only seven months old and enough hair for a two year old. He makes us smile every day.

Kaub official!!

Kaub is officially ours according to the state of Arizona. We always knew he was ours. He's been with us since he was born. He's been a Farr since his birth and now his birth certificate says so. Tuesday morning we went to court in Holbrook to state that we would take care of him. And of course we were proud to say we would. We love him and he will be sealed to us in the temple to us, as an eternal family, on Saturday!!!

For those of you who don't know already, we are starting a business!! And we could finally open our doors on Saturday. We got our business license and can finally start selling. And Daven's brother Orrin his wife KiLeigh, and there two boys, Porter and Payson. We are living in Farmington, NM with Daven's brother, well kind of on the side of his house in a camp trailor, temporarily until we can sell our house in Show Low, AZ. Actually until we finallize the adoption with Kaub in AZ. Which will be happening in just a few weeks. We have court on March the 10th and then the sealing will be on March the 14th in the Snowflake Temple. Then he will be blessed on the 15th in our ward in Show Low. That will be our final act in our Show Low house.

Our Tenth Anniversary

January 30th, 1999 TEN years ago Daven and I were married in the Salt Lake City Temple. So far so good. We didn't do much celebrating just dinner and a movie. But we love each other unconditionally. And even though I didn't get our mini vacation to revisit our honeymoon destination, and I didn't get the saphire ring to accentuate my wedding band we still have it. I wouldn't have married any other man in the world. He is my best friend. I love him so much.
We went for a little ride on Saturday with the fam and spent the day holding our son. We are so much happier with baby Kaub in our life. Our anniversary didn't matter because we feel like life just started.

My New Nephew

This is my new nephew Xander Kenneth Blakeley. He is so special to us. Sent straight from Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents at this time. Hopefully he can come home from the hospital soon!! All our love to him!

First Haircut

Who would have thought that a four month old would need a haircut. It was definately time too. He was starting to get a little girl flow. We could have put it in little pig tails. Daven thinks a little bow in our little boy's hair wouldn't go over very well. He needs to look tough like a boy. I think it makes him look so much older.

Kaub is getting bigger by the minute. He's starting to love to suck on things and from the looks of this picture maybe he'll be a singer. (He's sucking on a microphone) But maybe not. Maybe he'll grow up and like to work on engines like on his shirt. Or maybe he'll enjoy sports. Right now we are just enjoying him completely. We still feel like he was truly a blessing that came into our life. His birth family gave us an amazing gift. His life. And we get to share with everyone.
